Differences Between Bulk and First Class Mail

The Post Office has so many different rate classifications that it will make your head spin. With advertising mail, there are two basic options: first class or bulk (standard) mail.

First class mail is supposed to be handled within 24 hours of reaching the Post Office while Bulk Mail has up to 48 hours to be processed.

This disparity can be magnified if you are sending out time-sensitive pieces all over the country. If you have a limited number, a definite date for a sale, and a need to reach a dispersed target, a first class postcard could be your lowest cost option!

First class postcards are smaller than you can mail with standard, or bulk mail, rates.

Bulk mail is usually the least expensive way of doing a mailing, especially if you are doing it locally and mailing it from an SCF (Sectional Center Facility) like Raleigh. You have higher weight limits and more flexibility. Usually, they take a day or two longer to be delivered.

No matter which one you choose, First Class or Bulk Mail, address quality is crucial to getting your mailer delivered on time and correctly.
